The
Snoqualmie Valley is a rural agricultural landscape and productive river system
just outside the burgeoning Seattle metropolitan area. Stewardship Partners is
promoting opportunities for maintaining the agricultural landscape in the Snoqualmie
Valley while simultaneously encouraging salmon habitat enhancement and other restoration
opportunities.
As
part of our effort at promoting incentive-based approaches to conservation,
Stewardship Partners has launched a Salmon-Safe certification and eco-label
program for farmers throughout the Puget Sound and western Washington region
who adopt fish-friendly conservation practices and participate in salmon habitat
restoration.
In an effort to curb the negative environmental impacts of rapid development in Puget Sound,
our Sustainable Building Program aims at implementing and promoting low-impact development
and sustainable building practices.
The Nisqually Watershed is one of the most pristine watersheds in Puget Sound and has
been recognized across the country as a model for collaborative conservation.
The corridor program is linking private landowner stewardship with community and
watershed planning efforts. We are creating a suite of incentives for landowners
to adopt stewardship practices in agricultural, forestry, and land development, as
well as the tourist and hospitality industry.
