Join Stewardship Partners, The City of Snoqualmie, Green Snoqualmie Partnership and Enviroissues for a rain garden maintenance work party. In 2013 Stewardship Partners and partners designed and installed a large rain garden at Centennial Fields. Rain gardens are a beautiful landscape amenity that help address our region’s single largest water quality threat: run off pollution. Like a sponge, rain gardens allow stormwater runoff to be soaked up and filter out pollutants while recharging ground water instead of flooding the Snoqualmie River. Today’s work includes maintenance tasks such as weeding and grubbing out blackberry roots from the rain garden! We will supply gloves (bring your own if you can), tools, supervision and an overview of the work you will be doing. We suggest that you dress in layers that include long pants, long sleeve shirt and a jacket. Sturdy footwear such as work boots, mud boots, hiking boots or running shoes are recommended. Please come prepared for the weather by bringing rain gear if you have it and older clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty or muddy.
